Field Trip Tuesday: Remembrance Day Downtown

As planned, our field trip started down the subway line to Queen Station, where we popped out of the Bay store behind the crowds thronging the Old City Hall. From there we ducked back down underground for lunch in the PATH Underground City before heading over to St. James Cathedral for the free organ concert cum chaplaincy exhibition. What wasn't planned was the glorious 14-degree weather, thanks be to God.

Check out all the pictures on Facebook, and don't forget to tag yourselves!

Lest We Forget

Our class will be heading downtown for the Remembrance Day observance, leaving Bayview Station's Westbound Platform by 10:05 a.m. Those coming from Don Mills Station should plan to leave by 9:50 a.m.

The service begins at 10:45 a.m. at Old City Hall, a time to remember our heroes of World War I and subsequent wars. The above video, from last year's ceremony, gives a hint of what to expect. Feel free to compare the municipal ceremony with that of the provincial and federal and in the rest of Canada.

As time allows, we will dive into Toronto's PATH Underground City for a bite. Can you plan a nice path for us to walk along?

The last event of the field trip is a free organ and soprano concert at 1 p.m. at St. James Cathedral. As we'll be alternating a lot between both indoors and outdoors, be sure to dress for the weather. It's good to dress in layers so you can adjust to the varying temperatures. And don't forget to wear good walking shoes and bring a camera and snacks or snack money.
